Friends in Christ,
As we approach Thanksgiving, my heart is full of gratitude for this beautiful community we call St. Mary’s. Every week, I’m reminded of the countless ways you embody generosity, compassion, and hope. This place doesn’t just function because of programs or plans – it thrives because of you, and because of the Spirit that continues to move through all we do together.
I am especially grateful for our remarkable staff who serve with such dedication and grace: Pastor Russ Norris, Julie Remie, Lynda Anello, Janis Umschlag, Kathleen Macdonald, Lisa Nurse and Glen Lungarini. Their commitment, creativity, and steady leadership are among the greatest blessings of our parish life. Please join me in giving thanks for each of them.
I also want to give thanks for the wonderful success of our Angels’ Treasures Christmas Sale. It was a joyful and spirited weekend, and we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Helen Malone and the many volunteers who gave their time, energy, and heart to make it all possible.
Also, Judy and Peter Scarafile organized a St. Mary’s team of volunteers and generous donors and sponsors to fulfill another successful Turkeys for Codders initiative with the Community Action Committee this weekend, resulting in 300 families receiving turkeys and/or gift cards for food this Thanksgiving holiday. All of your work not only supports our mission but also brings joy and community to so many.
A reminder that our Thanksgiving Day Service will be held this Thursday at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by our Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Whether you are a longtime member, a newcomer, or simply in need of a place to be – all are welcome at the table.
May this season bring you peace, gratitude, and the quiet joy of knowing you are held in the love of God and this community.
Happy Thanksgiving, beloveds.
