Outreach Action Team (OAT)

At St. Mary’s, we believe that our faith is lived out in service to others. Our Outreach Action Team (OAT) is dedicated to supporting and uplifting our community by meeting practical needs, standing alongside those facing life’s challenges, and actively working toward justice and compassion for all. This team is committed to carrying out our mission by reaching beyond our walls and offering resources, time, and care to neighbors near and far.

The Outreach Action Ministry’s goal is simple yet profound: to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community. Our team embraces every opportunity to serve with love, respect, and compassion. Each outreach project reflects our core values of inclusion, kindness, and hope.

Community Feeding Programs

Faith Family Kitchen
This program provides nutritious meals to anyone who is hungry at the Faith Assembly of God at 154 Bearse’s Way in Hyannis. It is run under the auspices of the Cape Cod Council of Churches and offers both dine-in and to-go meals from 5:30-6:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Our volunteers arrive on the fourth Monday of every month at 4:30 p.m. to help set up for take-out meals and dine-in dinners– and at 5:30 p.m. to help serve the food that is prepared by their cook. Miracle Kitchen
Once a month on Wednesday, St. Mary’s creates healthy food and fabulous desserts to serve for lunch for 30-50 people at The Salvation Army on North Street, Hyannis. This ministry relies on volunteers who shop for food and cook in teams in St. Mary’s kitchen and create their choice of an entree; bakers, who bake at home and deliver to St. Mary’s; and delivery people who drive the food from St. Mary’s to the Salvation Army; and servers who create a salad and serve the food. Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace of Cape Cod is a 501 © 3 organization that is dedicated to helping break the cycle of incarceration by cultivating sustained, healthy relationships so that all children can grow and thrive.Amazing Grace of Cape Cod provides one-week summer camp experiences and monthly activities throughout the year for at-risk children. All programming is provided at no cost to families. St. Mary’s parishioners volunteer in many ways including donating camp packs and/or making lap quilts for campers; serving as mentors at monthly activities (1–3 hours a month) and/or camp “counselors” at summer camp; attending fundraisers and serving as Board members. Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands

Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands, Inc. (CACCI) is a private, non-profit organization that provides a variety of services to low-income individuals and families to help them improve the quality of their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. CACCI accomplishes its mission by providing services primarily in the areas of access to public health insurance and care; childcare subsidy and provider support services; immigration services; SNAP benefits assistance: and free tax preparation during tax season.

During the months of November and December it offers holiday programs. CACCI works with community partners to mobilize resources and to support economic and social opportunities. Many of the St. Mary’s parishioners participate in the Thanksgiving Turkey Program that provides approximately 300 families with a turkey and grocery store gift card so they may enjoy a bountiful and nutritious Thanksgiving dinner. The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center

The Veterans Outreach Center provides comprehensive life sustaining services for veterans and their families. Thanks to the continued generosity of supporters, the Outreach Center is a robust and resourceful organization with the professional capacity to continue serving the veterans of the future. St. Mary’s is home to several veterans and families that support the organization and volunteer through events such as the Veterans Day Breakfast which is hosted at St. Mary’s.

Outreach Grants Ministry

St. Mary’s Outreach Grants Ministry is pleased to provide grants to support mission partners locally, nationally, and internationally. Each year, five percent of our annual pledge income is allocated to the Outreach Grants Committee to distribute funds throughout the community. Our grants provide essential funding to organizations working to address issues such as homelessness, healthcare, mental health support, feeding programs, youth programs, animal welfare and more.

Examples of organizations that have benefited from grant funding from St. Mary’s incudes: A Baby Center, Amazing Grace of Cape Cod, Angel House, Duffy Health Center, Animal Rescue League- Brewster Adoption Center, Cape Cod Council of Churches Foster Children Families Program and Cape Cod & Islands Trans Resource Fund. Internationally, we partner with Episcopal Relief and Development.

Application deadlines are in April 1, July 1 and October 1, for organizations to apply for grants.
